  Horse Trek Monteverde: We are Janet from England and Marvin from Costa Rica, horse-lovers and passionate riders, joining together into a horseback riding company of our own, located in the community of Santa Elena in Monteverde, Costa Rica.  We have life-long experience with horses, and more than 10 years experience in running horseback riding tours for travelers visiting the Cloud-Forested Area of Monteverde.

For some, horseback riding is a couple-hour long adventure, for some others threading the mountain trails is a dream that seems out of reach, yet, the dream might be more accessible than most think.  For us, and maybe you, horseback riding is a passion that became our life style, a passion that we enjoy sharing with others and Costa Rica, well, Costa Rica has just been both the perfect home for us and our horses and the perfect environement to explore and re-discover from atop of a horse.

Many people are skeptical about riding horses in Costa Rica due in part to negative press on the subject, not all of it unfounded. The reason to be weary is that some people only see short-term profit and to them a horse is just a mean to make money. The more tours the horse does the more money they make. This practice by some has given a bad reputation to the horseback riding industry of Costa Rica. There were cases of horses collapsing from exhaustion and people riding trails covered in mud that were not in a condition to ride upon. These neglects tainted the image of horseback rides.  ==>>  The positive side of the issue is that many companies have improved the condition of the horses and improved the quality of their tours. Hopefully people will inquire about the well being of the horses before booking a horseback riding tour. It is not too difficult to ascertain and by doing so you are going to have a much better experience.

As for Marvin and I, Janet, along with other operators, we have, for years, (and will always continue) working hard to raise the standards of care and quality of horseback riding tours and horseback riding operators in this area of Costa Rica and the best way we have found to do such, is by becoming an example ourselves.  Excellent horses and guides have given our company a wonderful reputation for quality horseback riding in Costa Rica. Our horses are good size and solidly built.
We offer horses to match your level of experience.
We can provide veterinarian records for all and each of our horses.
We have a rotation work-schedule for our horses, so none are never overworked.
All our horses are shoed and each get a regular grooming (bath and brush).
We add to our horses's diet supplements of vitamines and nutrients (generically called "concentrado" in CostaRica.)

Helmets are offered to all riders.
Our saddles (western adaptation) are in good shape and we have some smaller to fit small people or kids best.
We customize tours to fit your schedule, your level of experience and the conditions of the trails.

Visit the beautiful areas on Monteverde and Arenal Volcano and parts of Guanacaste and follow the trails of the Campesinos. See rains forests, mountains, lakes, waterfalls, rivers and volcanoes plus lots of wildlife. This tour has got it all! Beach extensions can be arranged for that long dreamt "gallop on the beach".

5 day Adventures on Horseback Costa Rica
(Arenal Volcano, Monteverde and Guanacaste)
Saddle-up and come join us on our ride to see some of the most scenic areas of Costa Rica. Help round up cattle on one of the days. Beach extensions can be arranged. Spend 1 night in Arenal, 3 nights in Monteverde and 1 night on a working ranch in Guanacaste.

Daily Horseback Rides in Monteverde.
The rides are suitable for any level of experience from short to long rides. Short rides of 2.5 hours available as well as one day tours which include San Luis Waterfall, the All Day Cowboy Ride.
